The Southwest Stakeholders Education Summit, themed “Collaborating for Improved Learning
Outcomes” held few months ago in Ibadan, Oyo state, brought together a diverse group of participants including government officials from the six Southwest States and Federal Government, educators, parents and development partners. The Summit was geared towards highlighting and addressing the critical challenges of basic education in Southwest region. The Summit highlighted several issues affecting basic education in the Region, particularly as reflected in the performance of students in terminal examinations and the high rate of out-of-school children.
