In response, we launched PAAWS (Promoting Animal Awareness and Welfare in the Southwest)—an initiative committed to enhancing animal treatment, health, and productivity across the region. We believe that healthy animals contribute to a stronger economy, improved food security, and better public health outcomes.

This document, titled “Beyond Ethics: Animal Welfare as an Economic Game-Changer in Southwest Nigeria,” marks the first installment in a series of programs under the PAAWS initiative. It is designed to engage farmers, agricultural policymakers, and the general public across Southwest Nigeria.
