- New SWAgCO MD seeks research, policy support to revitalize agricultural investment company
In a meeting on Wednesday with DAWN Commission leadership, Dr. Theophilus Onadeko, the new Managing Director of South-West Agricultural Company (SWAgCO) Limited, sought the Commission’s collaboration and support to revitalize the company and fulfill its mandate.
Dr. Onadeko expressed strong backing for DAWN’s research and policy advisory services, highlighting SWAgCO’s intention to leverage this expertise to improve the agricultural sector across Nigeria’s Southwest region. His vision aligns with OICL’s strategic repositioning of SWAgCO to bolster the region’s agricultural competitive advantage, ultimately enhancing national food security and development.
SWAgCo, an agricultural investment company owned by Odu’a Investment Company Limited (OICL), was established to “unlock unrealized agriculture and sub-optimized agribusiness value by transforming underinvested agribusiness opportunities within the Southwest region into institutional-grade investment operations,” according to Dr. Segun Aina, OFR, former OICL Group Chairman.
DAWN Commission Director-General, Dr. Seye Oyeleye, commended Dr. Onadeko’s ambition for SWAgCO, recognizing its potential to strengthen regional integration and collaboration. He pledged the Commission’s full commitment to the proposed partnership.
