The Moremi Musical Drama tells the story of an African Queen from Ile-Ife the Southwest of Nigeria who made the ultimate sacrifice by risking her life to end trafficking and enslavement of her people, especially women and children. This portrays the strength of a woman as far back as 1,200 years ago.
This musical drama concept was created by the House of Oduduwa Foundation, the Foundation of His Imperial Majesty the Ooni of Ife, responsible for rehabilitating young women who have been victims of modern day slavery and is being directed and produced by Bolanle Austin-Peters Production.
The musical drama is derived from the story of the legendary Queen Moremi Ajasoro, how she fought so hard and sacrificed everything she had to save her people many centuries ago, It shows a true reflection of how she stood against enslavement of women and children. It also propagates and rejuvenates the cherished values, culture and tradition of an African woman as demonstrated by Queen Moremi, who by unusual courage put herself forward in order to save her people, who were being tormented by invaders and captured as slaves.
The proceeds of this musical drama will go towards assisting and rehabilitating young women who have been victims of modern day slavery and trafficking under the House of Oduduwa Foundation.
This musical drama will tell the epic story of an iconic Queen who was the greatest Queen of Ile Ife to date. How confidence was her watchword, how she was a risk taker and her quest for knowledge and how she became a one woman army for the love of her people.
